Birkenhead College has a robust network consisting of both cabled access for high-end programs in the computer labs and wifi for staff and student use through the day. We have three computer suites for whole class use, and seven netbook ‘pods’ for in class and library use.
The IT Department endeavours to have the latest Windows Operating System deployed. This is currently Windows 8.
Students are invited to BYOD (bring their own device) to school and they are always eager to connect their devices to the network for good access to the internet!
Students studying here from other countries find access to our wifi network a great comfort, as often it is their primary tie with family at home. They receive support at the beginning of the year so that they can log on as soon as possible.
Our library also functions as an information centre where senior students can check out a netbook to help them study.
