At Birkenhead College, all students are mainstreamed and have the option to attend the Learning Support Centre to address their learning needs. Through a nurturing environment the Learning Support Centre, with the support of other agencies, aims to provide support for students, staff, whanau and the community.
Ours is a whole-school approach. We work collaboratively alongside specialist teachers, subject teachers, deans and the Pastoral Care team to address student learning concerns. Our aim is to provide a safe environment for our students in which we can build meaningful relationships that optimise and enhance the educational pathway for students with extra learning needs.
