Students initially study the features of a small business, such as how a business is formed, structured, manages its people and operates on an ongoing basis. Students also focus on crucial functions within a business such as marketing and human resources. Later, the focus shifts from small businesses to large businesses and, further still, the context for study becomes international business.
Students have the opportunity to create their own business through Market Day or Young Enterprise. This is particularly exciting, as students learn business in a practical, hands-on way and can develop real confidence and entrepreneurial skills. It also gives our students preparation for undertaking further study of Business at university, such as the popular Bachelor of Commerce at the University of Auckland. Studying business is an excellent way to pick up real-life skills.
