The College expects all students to take pride in their appearance and to dress neatly at all times. This applies at school AND between home and school.
YEAR 9-12 STUDENTS
There is a NEW school uniform which all new Y9-12 students must purchase for 2019.
“Regulation” (below) refers to items bought from “The Uniform Shoppe”
The Uniform Shoppe, Barfoot and Thompson Netball Centre, 44 Northcote Rd, Northcote.
The new uniform is unisex: a person may wear any combination of the Regulation uniform pieces.
All students must wear one of two style of Regulation blue shirt tops. Both shirt tops come in long and short sleeve versions.
All students have the choice of wearing navy Regulation long pants, shorts, long skirt, short skirt or a tupenu. These items can be worn all year round.
All students have the choice of either a navy Regulation striped jumper or cardigan.
All students may either wear a black Regulation soft-shell jacket or roll away light rain coat.
All year: black leather covered dress shoes. Black socks must be worn with shoes. (See below)
NB: Term 1 and 4: Black leather sandals are optional. Sandals must tie below the ankle. However some subjects will still require students to wear full covered leather shoes in Terms’ 1 and 4 for Health and Safety reasons.
Plain black socks are to be worn. The socks must be clearly visible above the shoe, so ankle, crew or long socks are permitted. Invisible socks are not permitted. Students have the choice of wearing black pantihose with their shoes.
All students have a choice of wearing either a black Regulation beanie or cap. Students may wear a plain black Hijab.
All students may wear the black Regulation scarf with the BC logo.
Natural hair colours only. No bandanas permitted.
Boys must be clean shaven.
Natural coloured makeup.
Neutral coloured nail polish.
One plain earring in each ear is allowed. All other forms of jewellery are not permitted.
Facial piercings are not permitted. NB: Covering a piercing with a sticking plaster, or in any other way, does not make it acceptable.
YEAR 13 STUDENTS
Students in Year 13 are not required to wear school uniform but must comply with a dress code. They are expected to dress in an appropriate manner and to a standard acceptable to the College. This will be discussed in assemblies. Beachwear is NOT acceptable.
Visible forms of body/facial piercing are not permitted. This includes tongue studs. Covering a piercing with a sticking plaster does not make it acceptable.
Boys must be clean shaven.
If in any doubt about what is acceptable, Year 13 students should dress conservatively.
In all matters not specifically covered here, the decision of the school shall be final.
Please note: those students still wearing the old uniform during the 2019 transition year, must abide by the school rules for the old uniform. There will be no mixing of old and new uniform.
